What is your story? What are the stories you spread around, talk about, tell people? You know these stories I am talking about – the ones that keep you in a cage. They are stories you believe about yourself that are often not true at all. They are other people’s stories about you. What they have placed upon you, told you about yourself.
Now, the question you have to ask yourself is: how long do you want to hold onto these stories? How are they currently serving you? Put your hand on your heart and ask your body, “How does this currently serve me?” and wait for the answer. The answer might surprise you.
I want you to start noticing the stories you tell people – when you meet new people, or when you talk about a past event in your life. Write down each of these stories. Sit with them. What are they trying to tell you underneath? You are unworthy? Nobody can love you? You aren’t capable? You will never reach your goals? You are too emotional?
Then ask: whose story is this? Quite often it is a story someone else told you during your childhood – and you believed it because that is what children are designed to do. Children believe the trusted adults in their lives. And because a child sees their caregivers as an extension of themselves, when a caregiver says something unkind or untrue, the child takes it on as their own fault, their own failure.
But that was then. This is now.
We want to alchemise those stories, those emotions, into something beautiful. Imagine a life you want. How you want it to feel. What you want for yourself. What you want to create. How you want to be remembered. Those are the stories you need to be telling.
Start small. Write down the new stories you want to tell. How do you want your day-to-day life to look? Who is in your life? What career would you love to pursue? What art do you want to create? What activities do you envision? Write it all down, and repeat them over and over again until they become your reality.
Start to notice when you’re telling an old story, and consciously tell the new story you’ve written down. Do this often enough and you will automatically start saying the new stories. The old ones will be held in gratitude for getting you this far – but we no longer need them in the present. We are grateful for all they have taught us, but we are moving forward with prosperity, abundance, joy and adventure.
You have the power to create your own life. No one is going to stop you – just as no one is coming to tell you what to do either. Listening to your inner wisdom is the power to creating the life you’ve always dreamed of.
I believe in you. And I know you can take one small step forward today.
That’s all it takes. One small step today.
Much love,
